On Sunday, February 18th, the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) hosted their annual awards gala honoring outstanding achievements in cinematography during 2006. The big winner in the theatrical feature category was Emmanuel Lubezki, ASC, AMC, honored for his work on “Children Of Men.”
The star-studded and sold-out event was held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City. Presenters included actors Tim Allen, Charlize Theron, David James Elliott and Beau Bridges; filmmakers Richard Benjamin, Joseph Sargent and Martin Scorsese; and Universal Pictures President & COO Ron Meyer.
On Saturday the 17th, the ASC hosted an Open House at their Hollywood clubhouse and invited the public to spend an afternoon mingling with the organization’s members and award nominees. This annual event is a great opportunity for film students and aspiring filmmakers to meet and chat with their favorite cinematographers.
